The war of words between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao takes many forms and has many fronts. So when Pacquiao went on record recently as opposing President Obama’s recent endorsement of gay marriage, Mayweather saw that as an opening, and stepped in and threw a left. Mayweather tweeted today:

Pacquiao had said in an interview last week that gay marriage was against the word of God, and has been taking heat, and praise, for his statements ever since. On Tuesday he told TMZ that several of his quotes were taken out of context.

Since President Obama declared his support for marriage equality last week, many politicos (including myself) have speculated about whether black voters, who are divided on the issue, will abandon him. The consensus among gay rights supporters and foes alike is a resounding “no.” Sure, some black clergy are outraged, but even they admit this issue is no deal breaker. And the ongoing debate over an unlikely black backlash eclipses what promises to be the most profound impact of the president’s “evolution.”

President Obama has single-handedly dismantled the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy within the black church — that silent disdain on issues of sexuality that renders black gay and transgender people all but invisible, shames people living with HIV, and masquerades as love-the-sinner-hate-the-sin compassion.

Last Wednesday marked the beginning of the end of this dysfunctional dynamic. President Obama sparked an unprecedented dialogue about gay rights within the black community that won’t be quelled anytime soon. The conversation continues to dominate the blogosphere and cable news shows. Never before have we seen African-Americans from all walks of life discuss marriage equality, making it the trending topic in mainstream and ethnic media outlets alike.

CNN ran countless segments over the weekend capturing the opinions of black clergy and their parishioners on both sides, and Michael Eric Dyson broke into an impassioned monologue on MSNBC challenging black pastors and a few of his media colleagues to “stop using their Bibles to co-sign bigotry.”

The “So Special” deejay was scheduled to perform at Guvernment Entertainment Complex (Kool Haus) in Toronto, Canada on May 26. But promoters of the event were forced to take Mavado off the roster due to his work permit issues.

Reports alleged that the Canadian High Commission in Kingston rejected the Gullyside honcho’s application for a work visa.

Yesterday, sources inside the Gully camp told Urban Islandz that the deejay is expected to release a statement addressing rumors that he was dropped by Cash Money Records.

A statement is still forthcoming from Mavado’s management.

Actress Raven Symone is again at the center of lesbian rumors. According the the National Enquirer, The Sister Act actress has always been very reserved about her dating life, but is now ready to come out the closest about her sexuality.

The Enquirer alleges that Symone is dating model, AzMarie Livingston, who appeared on “America’s Next Top Model.”

This is what the magazine is saying:

“Raven has lost almost 30 Pounds, has done a whole image makeover, and now she is the star of ‘Sister Act’ on Broadway,” said a close source.

“She’s at a point now where she doesn’t care what her family thinks, and she’s in love with AzMarie. She’s a lesbian and wants to live that way.

“She feels her parents are still trying to treat her like she’s a kid, and she’s told them she’s going to do what she wants.”

“Raven has hidden being gay for a long time now,” said the source. “But about a year ago, she was introduced by a friend to AzMarie, who is absolutely gorgeous.

“The two began see­ing each other, and a few months ago, Raven finally got the nerve to ask her to move into her lavish Manhattan condo.

“When her family found out, they blew their stack and it’s created a gay scandal for Raven.

“She told her parents she loves them, but her home – especially her bedroom – is nobody’s business, and she was not going to back down, so they needed to accept it, period.”
