TIME Magazine ranks Jamaica’s Olympic uniforms among the best

SIXTY-THREE per cent of Time Magazine readers have voted Jamaica’s Olympic uniform as the best after the magazine launched a poll on its website titled “Which Olympic uniform reigns supreme?”

Cedella Marley’s creation was put up against other uniform designs from the likes of Germany, which got 13 per cent of the votes; China, which generated four per cent; New Zealand, with three per cent; the United States, with 15 per cent and Australia with two per cent.

Voters described the uniform as “fun and sporty” and “vibrant and slick”.

One person, who goes by the name JummpinCaribbeanDeal, said the uniform is vibrant and reflects the country and people.

Some, however, admitted to only voting for the uniform because they are Jamaicans.

A voter identified only as Drea wrote, “Yaad attire hideous, but when we up against the world I stay loyal. Ja all the way baby!”

Others suggested that the designer could have been more creative with the design.

Time Magazine rated Jamaica’s Olympic uniform among the best in a piece on July 13.

Designed by fashion designer Cedella Marley, daughter of Reggae icon the late Bob Marley, Bolt’s uniform is part of the 2012 Jamaica Track & Field Olympic Wear Collection, also designed by Cedella Marley.
