Police in London are looking for a gunman after the second shooting in two nights at Young Jeezy concerts in southern Ontario.
People inside the London Music Hall started running when shots rang out during the opening act of the concert Thursday night.
“We were just running away, trying to get safe,” said one man, who had travelled from Toronto for the concert.
“I saw people running away. We went outside and we couldn’t leave right away, we had to answer a few (police) questions first.”
The man, who wouldn’t give his name, said the shooting happened at the back of the club.
He was back at the scene early Friday, dropping off a friend who was picking up his car from a city parking lot that was surrounded by yellow police tape.
More than 10 cruisers filled the Queens Ave. parking lot Thursday night at about 11:30 p.m. when officers responded to the shooting.
Paramedics said one person was taken to hospital, but wouldn’t release any other details.
Uniformed officers continued their investigation early Friday, checking in dumpsters and recycling bins in back alleys, as well as bushes around buildings in the area. Officers also scoured two nearby parking lots, looking for clues.
The shooting followed one the night before at the rapper’s concert in Toronto which had prompted the London Music Hall to increase security. The club’s owner declined to comment Thursday night.
Gun shots were fired at the Sound Academy in Toronto about 12:30 a.m. Thursday sending hundreds of people fleeing from the nightclub.
A man was taken to St. Michael’s hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and was in serious condition.
Young Jeezy, who hadn’t yet taken the stage, later tweeted: “Backstage @ Sound Academy in Toronto! Police closed venue and cancelled the greatest show!!! I will be back! Next stop London, Ontario!”
The rapper is scheduled to perform at a hip-hop festival in Montreal Friday night.
