Talk Toronto: The Dynamic duo A-Game
The Dynamic duo from Toronto, Brothers Nova and Chase better known as A-Game recently released their highly anticipated mixtape “Since 1988,” which is available for download right here. The project features production from Bassline, T- Minus, Tone Mason and More. Nikki OH! recently caught up with the boys to discuss the Tape, Influences and Current projects OH!
Nikki OH!: A-Game is currently………….
Chase: The Mary Kate And Ashley of the rap game (lol)
Nova: We are currently in the studio working new material. Hip hop is always on the go, what is hot today, won’t necessarily mean it’s hot tomorrow. Consistency is key.
Nikki OH!: Describe the personal growth of A-Game, from “The World is Yours” to the most recent ‘Since 1988″Nova: Experience and maturity, we’ve been through a lot since “The World Is Yours” that prepared us for the day to release of our first official mixtape. “The World is Yours” was just our introduction to music, and our first ever project we put out indepedently. It brought a different light to our passion for music, we were never in a rush just trying to perfect our craft on “Since 1988″.
Nikki OH!: With the buzz that you’re recieveing, what do you plan to do to maintain that stability knowing that in today’s industry there’s no longevity
Nova: Longevity is very important. Since our release of ‘Go Head Shawty’ there was a lot of criticism in terms of being able to maintain that stability. Two singles later we gave them ‘Since 1988′ and our fan base continues to grow. Showing the versitility in our music, it allows us to have a better view of what our fans more appreciate and that helps create the longevity that we both desire within our careers.
Nikki OH!: Hip Hop fans in Canada, believe that your music is very Southern driven and there are some comparisons to T.I. How do you feel about that?
Chase: We grew up off soul and hip hop music, our first ever EP at the age of 16 was nothing but samples. Following the times of hip hop today a lot of the hottest music comes from the south and maybe that encourages our musical influence, but we don’t have the intent of sounding like TIP when we write these records. We are just happy we ain’t being compared to a rapper who isn’t relevant (lol). Most important we gave yall hip hop records on “Since 1988″
Nikki OH!: Who are your Fashion influences? and describe both your personal Style.
Nova: I’d say we are heavily influenced mostly by a mix of skateboarders, rock & roll, and hip hop. We call that Cool Boyz (lol)
Chase: My attitude is very straight forward, but I’d like to think I am perceived as a very humble individual. At the same time some people would say I’m the twin thats not afraid to say what Nov wouldn’t. I believe that reflects on my style, clean but I don’t give a f!#xk (lol)
Nova: I’m a very assertive individual, humble, I don’t believe in negative energy ,my attitude relfects my style to every point from the clean.
Thank you again to A-Game OH!
